The oldest town of the Amalfi coast meets the most modern city in the world

August 11, 2010 - September 11, 2010

Scala

The "Scala incontra New York" (Scala meets New York) event has become a star of the Amalfi Coast. A series of events outlining the future, treading memory paths, aware of the past, with a foot in the present and a glance of hope if the time to come.
The event started with the inauguration of the first monument to the memory of the victims of that terrible September the 11th 2001 in New York, by Silvio Amelio, and which now stands in the Piazza del Municipio, the Town Hall Square.
Appointments have followed over the years building upon the thoughts of men and women from the world of culture, such as Marty Markowitz, Deputy Mayor of New York, Robert Mc Namara, former Defense Secretary under President Kennedy, George E. Pataki, former Governor of the State of New York and current US representative at the UN, or again Ami Advincula, survivor of the Twin Towers and Peter Ruta, US painter and this year's guest, who lost all his work in the Twin Towers.
