Cascina Ballarin is a family-run farm. Ever since 1928, when building work began on the house, our family has been working and running the land and cellars. Each area of de production is handled meticulously in person: in the countryside - pruning in the winter, various jobs in the summer, the grape-harvest in the autumn - and in the winery, where the wines are fermented, racked, bottled and packaged.
The vineyards are mainly located in the villages of La Morra and Monforte d'Alba, with the following varietes being grown: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto (and a very limited quantity of cabernet sauvignon). All the grapes grown on our farm are using in making our three main red wines - Barolo, Dolcetto d'Alba and Barbera d'Alba - as well as several crus. For groups of no fewer than 10 and no more than 20 people, we organize tasting of our wines served with cold cuts, cheeses and local desserts. Further information and price-list available on request.
Producing these wines takes hard work and total passion. You need good grapes to make a good wine. Land worked with great care and respect for the plants, thinning of the bunches to have the right yield. A small, but functional cellar, with steel tanks and oak barrels. All this in a constant quest to produce high quality wines.
In the 1997 the old barn was refurbished to create 4 guest rooms furnished in typical Piedmontese style, with en-suite bathrooms and independent heating.
Breakfast is served in the breakfast room - also used for tasting our wines and as a reading room - and includes coffee, milk, bread, marmalade, cakes, cold cuts, cheese and fruit juice. There are two gardens, and parking is provided.
The winery can be visited througouth the year (the harvesting and crushing of the grapes in autumn are particularly interesting), and the surrounding countryside is ideal for walks trought the vineyards.
We have Wi-fi internet connection.
